I was first introduced to Naruto probably 10 years ago by one of my friends who had purchased the first copy of Shounen Jump released in North America. I remember the Naruto part of the book was particularly interesting to us because of the pictures of his “sexy jutsu”. Being 12 and seeing near naked girls in a manga was cool back then, and it also nearly got us in trouble.
However, besides that we also actually read the manga and both especially liked Naruto as it just seemed “cool” to us.
From that point on I started buying my own shounen jump novels and read each of them front to back. I think back then Naruto and YuYu Hakusho were my favorite manga’s to read at the time.
I was pretty much hooked on Naruto from that moment on.
A couple years later I began watching the dubbed version, where I would come home from school and eat my tasty but unhealthy ramen styled mr noodles and watch new episode of Naruto. I eventually moved on to Shipuuden and the english sub (which I much prefer now).
As my Naruto fascination grew I eventually stumbled upon Naruto cosplay. Me and some friends that were also into Naruto attended an anime festival where we saw most everyone in costumes. We felt so out of place, everyone was dressed up and having fun and we were still in our street clothes looking generic and boring. We decided that the next convention we went to we were going to dress up as our favorite Naruto characters…..So now I needed to get my costume for when the time came.
I started looking online at cosplay forums and naruto fan sites, and I noticed people having a particularly hard time with naruto and sharingan contacts lenses. People were either having trouble finding them or were linking to insanely expensive contact lenses. Shipping was sometimes not worldwide or the prices were through the roof. I knew having a pair Sharingan contacts was a key component in my costume; I needed them.
Finding less popular character contacts was even harder, and the pictures on some of these stores can be misleading. Doing a generic search was no better, yielding multiple unorganized results from various online stores, some legit and some looking shady.
